What counts as an SEO result
A customer who taps the phone number. A customer who opens WhatsApp from the site. A customer who sends the quote form. Those three are the only things we count, and we count them on the client's own site, in the client's own analytics.
The count is read for Ireland only, so crawlers and traffic from abroad are not in it. It is read for the whole month, never for the good week in it, and it is set against the month before and against the first full month after the site went live.
- A visit is not counted. A page view is not counted.
- An impression in Google is not counted
- A ranking is reported to the client, and is not a result on its own
Enquiries counted in a month
These are the figures on record, each one a client's count for one month with what was counted. The clients are not named beside them, because the figures are theirs and the names are not ours to put next to a number.
One client. Enquiries through its website in a month, counted as phone taps, WhatsApp taps and quote forms.
Another client. Enquiries through its website in a month, counted the same way.
A client. Enquiries from Google Ads run beside its site, the calls and leads recorded in the ads account.
How every figure on this page is read
What was counted, written beside it
Every figure says what it is: phone taps, WhatsApp taps and quote forms from a website, or the calls and leads in an ads account. A number with no count behind it is not on the page.
From the client's own analytics
The count is read from the tracking on the client's own site, which the client can open and read for themselves. We do not keep a separate tally of our own.
Against the month before
Each month is set beside the one before it and beside the first full month after launch, so the client sees the direction, not one good month on its own.
A quiet month is reported as a quiet month
When a month is quieter than the one before, it is reported that way, with the reasons we can see, and the pages are improved rather than the report softened.
No name beside a figure
A client's site may be shown and named, as the sites below are. A client's count is shown as "a client". The two never sit together, because the enquiries belong to the business that took them.
Rankings and visits go in the report
Each client's monthly report carries the searches the site shows for, where it sits for each one and the visits that followed. They explain the enquiries. They are not presented as the result.
From go-ahead to the first counted enquiry
Live in four to seven days
The site goes live with its tracking in place from the first day: the phone number, the WhatsApp link and the quote form each counted. The written quote comes back within 24 hours of the first conversation.
Found by Google
The sitemap is submitted and each page is checked in Google's own tools until it is indexed. A page Google has not crawled cannot bring an enquiry, so this is watched page by page, not assumed.
The first searches
Impressions come before clicks, and clicks before calls. Each page is read against the searches it was written for, and a page that shows for a search without earning the click gets its title and its first screen rewritten.
Counted and reported
From the first month on, the enquiry count goes in the client's report with what was counted. A page with nothing to show after a couple of months is improved or folded into a stronger one, never left.
One client per trade, per area, and what the work costs
The figures above belong to one business in its trade and its area, because that is how we take on work: one business of each kind in an area. A roofer we work with is never ranked against another roofer we work with for the same searches, and the same holds for a cleaning company, a driveway company or a plumber.
A new site is quoted per project and put in writing within 24 hours of the first conversation. The monthly work that produces the counts on this page runs under a care plan, €79 to €999 a month, hosting and edits at one end and the full monthly local SEO programme at the other. The Delaney Tarmac case study shows how one of those sites is put together, page by page.

Questions about SEO results
How long does SEO take to show results in Ireland?
The site is live in four to seven days, and the first counted enquiries depend on how quickly Google indexes the pages and how many firms in your trade already hold your towns. Impressions come first, then clicks, then calls, and the monthly report shows each page's progress through those three so you can see where it is. A new domain in a crowded trade takes longer than an established one with few competitors in its towns. We do not promise a date, and the month-by-month guide sets out what happens at each stage.
What results should a trade business expect from SEO?
Enquiries: people in your towns ringing, messaging or sending the form from the page that answered their search. The figures on this page are what that looks like for clients of ours in a month, with what was counted. What you should not expect is a promise of a number before the site is live, because the count depends on your trade, your towns and how many firms already rank there. We quote the work, not the result, and then report the result every month.
How do you measure SEO results?
Three events on the client's own site: a tap on the phone number, a tap on the WhatsApp link and a quote form sent. They are read from the client's own analytics, for Ireland only, for the whole month, and set against the month before and the first full month after launch. Visits, impressions and rankings are reported alongside, as the explanation, and are never added to the count.
Why are visits not shown as a result?
Because a visit pays nobody. A page can be visited by people outside the country, by software, and by people who leave after a second, and a report built on visits looks healthy while the phone stays quiet. The visits are in the client's report so the enquiries can be explained, and the enquiries are the figure the report leads with.
Why are the clients not named beside the figures?
The enquiries belong to the business that took them, and a competitor in the same trade can read this page too. So the sites are shown and named, as a piece of work, and the counts are shown as "a client", with what was counted. If you want to speak to a client about their experience, ask and we will put the question to them.
Can I see results for a business like mine?
Yes, within the one-client-per-trade-per-area rule. If we already work with a business in your trade in your area, we will say so and not take you on, because we would be ranking you against each other. If the area is open, the free website audit reads your own site and how it shows for your trade and town, and the conversation starts from that.
